Help 3G Icon

Newbie
Hi. Just bought my wife a new Galaxy Apollo 15800 which is fine apart from the 3G icon continually showing on the right hand side of the notification area. This is bright blue in colour with a "greyed" out square underneath it. The mobile network is not enabled but if so why is the icon showing all the time? Can anyone help please?

The grey area has two arrows in it, one is blue and the other is red and they only show their colours when you are sending or receiving data. The blue square shows either 3G, or H on my phone, which is showing whether you are in 3G signal area.

Thanks David. I don't think that the phone is set up for the vodafone 3g settings. It was purchased unlocked". Any idea how I get the vodafone settings?

Not sure what you do, I bought an unlocked phone as well and just put in a 3 sim card and it worked for me.
Just had a look on the vodafone web site and there is some information there, or call into a vodafone shop or telephone customer services from another phone. Sorry but that's all I can suggest.
