I have an unlocked G1 on AT&T. I read all over the place that the 3G would not work and I was fine with it as I use wifi more than anything and the EDGE network isn't bad when wifi isn't available. Now my question or more of a statement is that when I am in a more rural area instead of the E with the arrows pointing up and down I get a G with arrows pointing up and down indicating the use of 3G service. Am I actually getting 3G service as it does seem to be faster? Is there also a way to verify this other than just the G icon?
