3GPP editing on a PC?

romar

Newbie
I've transferred a bunch of 3GPP videos onto my PC that I'd like to edit together into a movie. Obviously, I can't do this with Windows Live Movie Maker. I tried converting the files, but the few converters I've tried have compressed the resolution. Now I'm wondering if there is any good video editing software for 3GPP that will keep the HD 720x1280 resolution in tact?

Depending how much you want to change the video, you will need different software.
You could try the free Avidemux, YAMB, or the paid VideoReDo, VideoStudio Pro, Pinnacle Studio HD, Cyberlink PowerDirector, Adobe Premiere Elements.
Most of the above software should be able to handle videos in 3GP container.

I haven't seen a video player that will edit those files. 3gp is actually a VERY old codec, and is very hard to edit with, so most editors just wont support it. You will have to convert the videos to an editor friendly format first.

Well, most of the above software should be able to do the editing. Of course it depends the extent of the editing. For example, if it is a matter of simple cut/join of 3GP video, then it is possible to do with many apps, including the free Avidemux mentioned above.

Hummmm, I remember most of Video Editors can support 3GP video just like as VideoStudio and Premiere. But those softwares are so expensive. I think you can use this Video Converter to convert the 3GP to WMV video and then import into Windows Live Movie Maker. And what's more, this video converter support add many videos and convert to the same format in one time, even you can merge them to one video.

Converting such videos to WMV might allow them for editing in Windows Live Movie Maker, but the quality of the video will suffer.

Windows Live Movie Maker should be able to open and edit 3GP files under certain restrictions. I'd say analyze the video file and see if that fulfills these requirements:
Windows Live Movie Maker Help Center - File Types

3GPP and 3GPP2 video files that are often recorded on a mobile phone can be used in Movie Maker, but if 3GPP video files contain AMR audio, it can only playback the audio, without video.

The opposite: " In these cases, the video will often play, but the audio will not".

According to your description, you need a 3GPP video converter which can convert, edit and compress video, at the same time, you also want to keep the HD 720x1280 resolution.
So, I suggest you try the all-in-one video converter from f2fsoft.com. It can easily convert 3GPP video to 180+ video formats with simple steps. The most important one is that it has free trial version for everyone.
