Help 4-5% battery drain per hour on mobile network

Hi.. When I had got my phone 2 months back, the battery was lasting through the day with moderate to high usage. However, now I am noticing big drains and mediocre battery life even with low usage and have to plug in everyday during office hours.
When I am on wifi the drain is very normal, around 1% per hour however on mobile network the drain increases to ~5%/hour with the screen off. I also notice that the + sign beside the H keeps coming up repeatedly. This is in an area with excellent coverage. It also gets a bit warm during this time.
The battery graph does not show any wake locks during the time the screen is off. I had done a factory reset as well but its behaving just the same.

What is up with my phone?

If the battery is getting warm, it's probably because the transmitter is putting out maximum signal - because you're not getting a good signal from the tower regardless of what the bars say. And according to the screen shot you posted, your phone lasted 22 hours, 13% of that (almost 3 hours) on phone calls, using only 70% of the battery charge. Even charging it at the 40% point would have given you almost 20 hours.

Rukbat, my voice calls details show 38mins (which is how long I actually talked) not 3 hrs. 90% of this graph is on wifi. It is when I disconnected from wifi and let the phone sit that I noted the drain. If the bars are wrong then I don't know what would be a measure of judging signal strength.

Sounds like it's having trouble connecting to the 3/4G HSPA+ network -- are you on T-Mobile / ATT?.

Network switching can use fa fair amount of battery and is often one of the slightly glitchy.

While you may not have been talking for 13% of the time it's certainly using 13% battery -- and when the Android OS is using a lot compared to the screen -- that's usually a good sign it is having trouble connecting to some network (either cell or WiFi) or transferring a lot of data.

I would try rebooting if you ever see the "+" flashing. Otherwise you may just need to keep any eye on the battery vs signal as best you can. Not sure what else to tell you.
