4G connection drop

Drekkyk

Newbie
So this is starting to happen more and more frequently. I have 2 to 3 bars of 4G connectivity. The icon turns from blue to gray and I lose connection, but the bars dont decrease and 4G doesn't disappear. Then it turns blue again and I can have to refresh what I was doing to retrieve the data. Is this a signal strength problem on my side or a hiccup on Verizon's side?

It is a known issue with VZW. I do not know/understand what causes it, but you are not alone. As of recently there have been some data outages as well, you may be part of that issue also. I have read that it was part of their upgrade process to LTE, but I am not absolutely sure. Maybe someone with some more knowledge on the matter will chime in here to help.

Same here, and it is definitely happening more often. Last Friday I had no data for a few hours. And I was holding my wife's Maxx in my other hand and it had 3-4 bars. I tried turning airplane mode off and on, rebooting, the "battery-pull" trick, etc.

Same. It takes the wind out of your sails when you are telling your friends how fast Verizon's 4G LTE is when you pull out our phone and it can't even connect. Meanwhile their iPhone on 3g already has the page loaded.

I had this problem as well - both for 4G and 3G connections (haven't seen any problems connecting to a local wifi, though)

I just called Verizon Tech Support about this problem, and they informed me that Motorola was aware of the issue (the tech actually said that she has found the same issue with her Razr as well), and while they are working on a more permanent/better fix, they provided this app:

Restore Connectivity Settings

(warning: using the app involves a phone restart for it to take effect)

I just tried using it a few minutes ago, and since the problem is intermittant, I can't say whether this fixed my problem or if it just happened to reconnect successfully after my phone restarted. But if nothing else, its worth a shot.

Razr Maxx, Indianapolis area.

ugh, this is so effing annoying. i've had the Razr Maxx for 2 days and it constantly disconnects, then tells me it cannot detect internet on my phone - wtf?? this NEVER happened with my old LG Ally.

i have to have consistent connection or it's useless to me, mobile hotspot is my only internet. will try the app posted above, thanks for that info!

OK - well, this Restore Connectivity app does work - sort of - but it requires a restart every time you want to utilize it. That's not a solution, and it doesn't solve the problem -- even without this app, I can reconnect by simply restarting the phone. The point is to stay connected and not get dumped out of what I am doing online & lose everything I'm doing at the moment. Having to restart defeats the whole purpose. FEH

I am having the same problem--not just 4G--no data connection at all. One of the times it happened I was with my husband and I picked up his Iphone and connected just fine. I called Verizon and part of their automated recording suggested turning the phone off and restarting. This has been happening more and more lately. Restarting is not an acceptable option.

Had the same issue in Baton Rouge but here lately it doesn't seem as bad as it was. The 4G doesn't seem as fast as it used to be though either. 3G has actually seemd to be much faster now days. Wonder if there is less 3G load around here now and a huge increase of load on the 4G network. 3G is actually pretty smokin. I tethered the other day sitting in my car a remote worksite on 3G and the web pages were loading fast.

i just gave up and added WiFi in the house. and of course, have to pay for that as an addition to the cable tv.  :: pissed ::

i don't have the strength to deal with returning the phone and starting over on a whole new one - AND paying the (stupid, total B.S., greedy effing nickel-and-dime-the-customer) restocking fee.

other than my MAIN internet connection being unusable, i love the phone.
