4G connection dropping all day

Since this morning my 4G connection has been dropping all day.
One second its on, the next its off. Ive never had this problem since getting the phone in December.

I have the s3 with PRL 2035 (updated with *228) and modem MF@ (also tried MB2 but it was the same)

Anyone else having this issue?

I have the Motion and my 4g keeps dropping too. Usually, all I have to do is hit the back button and it comes back.

Still annoying, though.

I too was using a CDMA s3, and i started experiencing this issue about a month ago here in Miami FL
i saw the thread posted above, and optimistically gave it a shot
Spoke to what seemed to be a knowledgeable rep, told her about my issues and told her exactly what i wanted to be done, the refresh of my account and signal, it was done by her words, she finally told me to simply call *228 and after my phone automatically re-programmed it would restart and it would be a night and day difference...she assured me it would solve my issues and if by any chance it didnt, to call back from another phone and try and do it manually. After the *228 'reprogramming' my phone turned on to the same exact issue, i was so frustrated i didnt even bother trying again, but i guess the possibility was there, as per members posting on that thread, and by the 'manual' option she mentioned. Anywho my s3 broke, and i wound up grabbing the s4, speeds are better everywhere i've been so far (when compared to my old CDMA s3 speeds) and the signal has been stable, ive only had it jump out of 4G once, in my room, then again my room has bad signal.
Im not telling you to go out and grab an s4 as it will be the only way to solve your problems or any GSM phone for that matter, all i know is in my area nothing worked so i opted for something that was guaranteed to improve my situation.
My guess is the're still tweaking things with the network since MetroPCS is obviously going GSM, i assume CDMA should go back to normal at some point before their shut down in 2015, was i willing to wait for that day, and not face the fact that i'd be going GSM sooner or later?(not that i wasnt going to get the s4 regardless of these CDMA issues) Not really.
Give it a try and post your feedback on that thread, its worked for some and you might get lucky.

Today is the second day of my 4g dropping constantly. It used to do it 1-2 times a day, now it's doing it 20 times a day or more.

I know this is a stretch but what are the odds of T-Metro doing this to make people so frustrated that they move over to GSM faster?

iv'e thought about that..but I don't think a company would do that to it's customers for no reason..im sure there are legalities to it.. but coming from a normal customer then yeh it would seem "since metro got bought out there connections have gone to crap might as well get one of those new gsm metro phones"

Wouldn't make sense to do that since the average customer already thinks they're running on tmobiles network then if there metro phone already sucks on 4G why would they get another phone with the same company....lost customer

So then what do you say to this unstable 4G connectivity switching on and off 4 times per minute on CDMA devices?
im really asking since i think you might have an answer, not trynna be a smartass

Well, I don't have all the answers for everything happening to all your phones. But I do know that when I upgraded to the new firmware my 4g is awesome. & yes, I'm rooted & using Metropolis ROM. Other than that, I would say that depending on the area you live, it would seem that Tmetro is constantly doing upgrades to their signal & their is bound to be a lot of 4g dropping out periodically. & that's the problem with CDMA, isn't it lol.

My 4g dropped to 1x about an hour ago and hasn't returned.

I've toggled airplane mode on/off, turned mobile data on/off, none of the tricks that usually work are doing any good.

I too have had intermittent service. Seems worse after the Deadline of Aug 11th. The last day to upgrade some models of handsets in order to keep high speed access. Due to the merger using T mobile's towers

Sometimes my service drops completely, not even 1x, which i believe is a new experience with my handset.

I too have tried *228 with no success. People who have upgraded also have had problems who did not clean (factory reset) their handset.

I have a apk called Fresh Network which I use all the time anyway with Metro's lousy service, and it refreshes my connection. So for my personal situation it's no big deal whether I have 1x or nothing at all, I'm still refreshing to get the 4g back. But yeah, service seems worse since the deadline.

Over time your handset accumulates a lot of stuff and performs sluggishly, including keeping a connection. If you were to factory reset, you would probably see a marked improvement in your connection. Back everything up ofcourse to your SD card.
