4g/LTE service cutting out and in over and over

I live in Los Angeles and I get good service here. The only problem is my connection constantly cuts out for like a minute, then reconnects. If I'm watching youtube videos, I can watch a video or two, then connection will stall and I have to either wait a few minutes, or I can turn the 4g off and then back on, and it works again. But then if I go back to watching videos/browsing websites, it will cut off in a few minutes.

I have a droid bionic, not rooted, running 2.3.4 with Verizon. I asked some friends if they are having an issue with their bionics but they give me mixed answers. Anyone else have this issue with Verizon/bionic?

EDIT: For anyone looking for an answer to this problem, I found a guide to upgrade your droid bionic to ics here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771993

It has worked for me and the guide was very helpful.

I live around Los Angeles too and I used to get drops all the time just like you when my phone was on 905 (the latest ota). I installed the 232 ics leak and have not had one drop since. It seems they finally fixed the radio issues the Bionic has with ics. You could try installing that or wait for the official ota if your not comfortable trying the leak. You don't need to be rooted and you can go back to stock if you didn't like it. Its definitely worth it imo.

I was having those issues with my bionic on the .902 update, not bad at first but got worse over time. When I first did the update to .905, it was no help so I went back to .902. The drops got worse over time... Just this weekend, I broke down and fxz'd the phone to bone stock .902 non rooted, took the 905 ota update and the phone now has a solid connection.

It was strange how the 905 update didn't work for me when it first officially rolled out, but now it did work. :)

I'll run it on this update for awhile to confirm it's solid, if so, I'll do the same with my other bionic. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 2.3..... gingerbread? What is 232 ice cream sandwich? When I google it, it only turns up 4.0. I'm fairly tech savvy, but I don't have much experience in smart phones yet. So help me out if you could? Thanks :)

I suppose I could try that. You just formatted and reinstalled 905? Almost sounds too good to be true, haha.

Yup, I fxz'd back to .902 bone stock, took the update, let the phone settle for about a half an hour and then did a factory reset. Believe me, I am shocked this actually worked! lol

Because a few weeks ago it didn't work.

Just this past Friday it was dropping my data like crazy, so I broke down and did the .905 update. Hope it works for you. :)

Fxd = fastboot recovery from the boot window? Why format from there, install the update, then factory reset again?

And yeah the data dropping in and out every minute is driving me crazy.

I have rsd lite on my winows xp computer and the stock 902 operating system. I just power down the phone, Once it's powered down I hold the 'down' button on the volume rocker and the power button at the same time for a few seconds then release both buttons, the phone is ready for programming.

I then fire up rsd lite and plug my phone in with the usb cord it came with and wait for rsd lite to detect it. Once it's detected I then click on the file icon, select the appropriate file, click on 'unzip and install' and let it do it's thing till I get the little green icon that says 'Passed'. It will tell you to manually power on the phone when the phone is already powered on. Do nothing, just wait, it may take a few minutes.

After the phone has settled for about a half an hour, I took the update. Once the update was installed and the phone was powered on, I let it settle for another half hour, then did a factory reset (Hard reset). :)

I am referring to the system version. If you look at your phone under settings>about phone you can find your system version. Right now your probably on 905 and your Android version is 2.3.4 gingerbread. The ics leak I am on is android version 4.0.4 and my system version is 6.7.232. You can read more about the ics leaks in the Bionic forum here. Hope that helps let me know if you have any other questions.

Edit: added a pic for you.

Cool, and yeah I figured that out shortly after posting, haha. I kinda misread your post. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I'll look into the leak and see what works, I'll post back for others to find this. Thanks guys.

I have the same problem from time to time. Think it has something to do with network authentication and the 3g/4g radios.

So I tried Fatpomp's advice and googled the 232 ics leak. Found a very helpful guide for upgrading a bionic to ics. [GUIDE] Easiest Step-By-Step Tutorial For Upgrading Your Bionic To ICS - xda-developers

Have used the phone for the last few days and it is working a lot better. I've had two or three disconnects, but those could be normal, I'm not sure. It is nowhere near the 20 disconnects an hour though. It does seem like my battery life is shorter, but I have not done tests and I could be wrong. I don't know if ics uses more battery than gingerbread. Overall, I am happy with this fix. Much better than before.
