4G Pricing

Have any of you heard what the LTE pricing will be? Verizon is charging $50 for 5GB on their network cards, I'm wondering if that will be the same for the LTE phones.

I haven't heard, but I am speculating there will be a little bump in price. I am guessing something like $60 for the same plan at the $50.00 3G. I am praying they will still have unlimited plans for phones.

How is it cheaper?? It costs the same according to the website....:confused::confused::confused::confused:

No, the 3G air card was $59.99 for 5 GB. 4G it's $50.00..... Since the iPad came out for Verizon they changed the price for mobile hotspots to $50.00 for 5GB of usage, so USB modem running on 4G it's cheaper then USB modem running on 3G network. If you go to a store with a 3G USB modem you still pay $59.99 a month

There is a lot of speculating about 4G data plan pricing for phones being higher than the current 3G pricing. But I don't see anything to support that other than assumptions about Verizon greed. To remain competitive, I'm speculating that the 4G phone data pricing will not increase. But I'm also guessing that they might cap the plan at maybe 5G rather than leaving it unlimited.

Not sure if you follow the black panda on Twitter or not but he has been the source of some decent info. He suggested they would charge a premium for 4g on all 4g phones regardless if you are in a 4g service area. He said $15.

I could see alot of people not going to 4g if indeed they do charge a $15 dollar premium and do not allow people to keep unlimited data

myself included. i will not pay a premium for a service i cant even use right now. not to mention that i will gain data tiers when i finally do get the service!

Looks to me like they are planning to phase out all of the 3G smartphones, so that all of the new phones will be 4G. End of life for the Droid X is showing as 3/31/11. So if you stay with your old 3G phone you're all set.

I just have trouble imagining that all data plans for new phones would go up from $30 to $45. They must be planning to have cheaper options. I can't imagine all new Verizon smartphone customers opting for a $45 a month plan. For many people that's a lot of money. Unless everyone gives up their home internet and gets all of their internet through wireless. But even that would require at least an additional $20 to enable the hotspot feature on the phone, bumping the total to $65 per month.

not true there are new phones in the "droid" line coming to verizon and will be 3g. the 3/31 eol for the x is just a natural progression. the x2 will be coming out this year as well as the inc2 ( pics already leaked suggesting they are the inc2) and the droid3.

i gave up on my home internet and use wireless tether or the 3g hotspot with the hack making it free.

Are we certain that the new smartphones will be 3g only? Are the specs certain at this time?

Nothing is ever certain because these things change often.Last I read the x2 inc2 and droid3 are 3g with one being vanilla android.

Droid Life is reporting that pricing will be $29.99 for unlimited LTE, same pricing as 3G. Incredibly surprising but great news overall.

Verizon 4G LTE Data Plans to Launch at $29.99? - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

this is what my verizon rep told me some weeks ago. if indeed it is true, and if this is limited offer, i might have to spring for the 'bolt after all and get grandfathered into this rate for the next two years at least. suddenly $250 is sounding a little more reasonable...

There WILL NOT be an increase FOR NOW. Verizon want's to use the 4g pricing to draw sprint users over to big red. They will begin to increase the cost as coverage spreads but there won't be an increase for a while. I don't have an inside source or anything like that. My co worker over at Best Buy Mobile and the manager told me that is what they were told by the verizon rep who came in for training and briefing on the TB.

That makes sense I mean since LTE wont be in most markets until 2012-2013 so it would make sense to keep prices the same atleast I would say until around holiday season but who knows with verizon.
