4g question

Until a site (city) goes live, are the 4g towers set to disconnect your signal when you start to use it? I'm here in Boston and can get a 4g signal. In fact I found a tower today and had 3 full bars. Once I started to transmit data (speed test) the signal would switch back to 3g.

Is this just cause they are testing?

Looking at the sprint website's list of available/coming soon cities, Boston shows up at coming soon, so testing is possible.

Sprint: First and Only Wireless 4G from a National Carrier

Rumor is that August 1st is the go live date in Boston, the hardware is all installed, I was in Chicago this week and experienced 4g, I can't wait for Boston to go live.
