i bought a new zte whirl 2 for straight talk and the 4g is very slow. is there anything i can do about the slowness and slow connectivity? also all my music that was recognized by my old lg optimus is not recognized by the zte. why? thank you.

Hard to say on the speed. Could be the phone, could be a network issue. If your settings (e.g. APN settings) are correct I'd speak to your carrier.

As for music, what format, what music apps, and where are you putting it? I'd check the music player's settings to make sure it is scanning the folder the music is stored in, or tell it to rescan the device. Also make sure there isn't a ".nomedia" file in the folder you've copied the music to.

And if in doubt, try a different music app (e.g. PowerAmp) to make sure it isn't a problem of the built-in app.

I believe 4g is quite new, not all provider able to provide full network coverage like 3g does.
So til it goes 100% supported , I guess u should change the network setting to prefer/run only in 3g,
it will gives u the 3g speed but better than having a poor 4g. Cheers..
