$5 discount for automatic payments?

Does Virgin Mobile offer a $5 discount if you sign up for automatic payments? I see no mention of it anywhere on the VM site, however, it's mentioned in a recent PCWorld article comparing pre and post-paid iPhone plans.

So what's the deal? Is there a $5 discount for automatic payments or is that just an upcoming promotion strictly for the iPhone?

They are probably offering it only for the Iphone becuase of how much they are charging for it. Most cell phone prices without a contract are at least double what the real retail value would be in an open market. They carriers do this to make you think you are getting hundreds of dollars for signing a contract, when it's really much less The Iphone's price is even further bloated because of Apple's marketing, Honestly, the Iphone was a great piece of technology when it came out 5 years ago, but the hardware really hasn't changed that dramatically in that time. IMO it's fairly dated technology that is still around in it's current form mainly due to Apple's expertise in making people think they are buying the next best thing to sliced bread.
