I have an old android smart phone (Android 4.0 MTK6577 Dual Core 1.0GHz 512MB/4GB 4.3-inch Capacitive Screen 3G Smartphone with WiFi GPS HDMI). I had 55 messages on it this morning, tried to read them but phone stopped working. Now got black screen and phone not responding. HELP.

Shut it down completely - remove the battery for a couple of minutes if you can, if it hasn't got a removable battery press and hold the power button until it shuts down (may take 10-20s). Then see if it will boot normally after that.
If that doesn't work, how are your backups? Because a factory reset will be one of the options.
