Is this software downgrade only for affected phones rather than the whole of the note 7 range?

From what I've read, it's only going to affected phones.

If they try to reduce a perfectly good 3500 mAh battery to 2100 mAh, there will be a MUTINY of loyal Samsung customers.

It's affected unsafe phones only, replaced safe phones won't get this update.

I believe what you did is likely just apps updating and has nothing to do with OTA updates.

I had this update today, turned battery indicator green, and it still charges to 100%. As it's supposed to do for the safe N7s.

I believe it's a pushed mandatory update, so probably only way to avoid it is to keep the phone offline. Because once it's triggered, seems it's either update now or later, no other option.

Its pushed and unless your rooted running AOSP there is nothing you can do.
