64 bit version of Google Chrome coming

The number of bits it's compiled for has nothing to do with stability or security. Performance? Inside the browser, yes. (It'll execute Javascript faster, for instance.) But in most cases you're still limited by the speed of the internet. Browsers have always been faster than the internet was at the time the browser was outdated. (IOW, the 32 bit Chrime is far faster than the internet.)

If they improved security and stability, that's great, but they didn't do it by running the same source through a 64 bit compiler.

I think they mentioned that the security comes not as a direct result of converting to 64 bits, but because there are security features in Windows that have only been designed to run in 64 bit.

I would have thought the reasons for Google considering moving to 64bit were most likely to be performance and the fact that phones and tablets are about to start hitting the 4GB address limit for RAM - and 64bit is a better solution than things like PAE.
