64 gb in Maxx?

sberger

Newbie
Anybody try this in their Maxx? Im using 32 now but various folks on Amazon report using 64 with other Droid phones. Would love the extra storage but don't want to splurge unless I know it will work.

I talked to Level 2 Support at Motorola today and they stated a limit at 32gb for the external memory. Granted, Motorola support does not have the greatest info or tech folk on board. But that's what they told me.......Cheers.......RT

i have the Sandisk 64 gb micro sd card in my Maxx and i had it in my Bionic. both phones recognized it with no problems. both showed i have 59.x gb of sd memory.

i even gave one of the 64 gb micro sd cards to my wife for her Droid X and the X had no problem.

edit: i did have to format the sd cards after install. if the phone doesn't recognize them, do a format and everything will be fine.

Has anyone had success with the Sandisk 64GB SDXC card on a Maxx running ICS? I get the message saying the card is damaged but I haven't found a way yet to format it then, is in the video link posted above.
Thanks

Found the answer:
download this tool and format it as fat32 on your computer. I usd a Kingston SD to USB dock. Once its formated to Fat32 on your computer, put it in the phone. It will still say its damaged but will now give you the option to format it. Worked!!

I was going to invest in a 64 gig card, but Motocast makes this unnecessary for me. Media is on my computer at home, except for a small playlist to get me through if data goes down. have half my 32 gig card left. Thank God for unlimited data tho.

I tried the Fat32 formatting of the 64GB SDXC to install a second one in my Xoom. That didn't work. I can press Mount SD but it never does. No errors, no warning. Bummer. If anyone got this working on a Xoom, I'd love to hear how you did it.

I am thinking that if you format the card in your phone, your tablet should be able to read it. My 64GB Micro SD was showing as corrupt shortly after I got my RAZR MAXX. The RAZR couldn't reformat the card, so I put it back in the Bionic and it had no problems seeing it or reformatting it. All of my data was still visible to the Bionic and my Mac. Backed it up and reformatted.

Stock RAZR MAXX, ICS

ok, now i am on ICS and i have the 64 gig card. the phone sees the card and reads that is has 59GB of emptiness but i can't seem to put anything on the card. what am i doing wrong? i want to transfer from internal storage to the 64GB micro SD.

picture storage, i want to put pictures on the micro SD, i tell settings to use the external SD but it's storing them on the internal SD which is only like 8 GB.

I'm also using a 64GB class 6 micro SD card in my Razr MAXX, and it works GREAT. Currently "17.5 GB free of 59.4 GB." I have my full music collection (all legal, believe it or not), and most of my personal photos.

Sometimes it's a bit slow browsing my music library, but not too bad.
