7" Tablets?

I have an iPad which I don't find myself using so much, especially when out and about. I have an HTC Incredible S which is on it's last legs I feel - the vibration has gone dull that I can barely feel it, it keeps losing signal, texts often won't send and receive... just isn't too good atm, so am hoping to replace it - once they're in stock - with a Nexus 4.

I kind of want a 7" tablet to combine with the Nexus 4 am hoping to get, since it'll be less cumbersome than the iPad, and will go nicely with my phone. I just dunno I would need one/if it'd be useful for me/what one I should go for.

I've actually already ordered one, as I had a gift card that wasn't doing anything, so I ordered the Nook HD for my brother (he's 15) for Christmas. It was the only one I could get from the book store the gift card was eligible for, and I wasn't going to use it anyway. He then looked into it and decided he didn't want it. So then I kinda got my hopes up thinking I'd get it, use it for Netflix, books, Spotify, web and email, couple of games etc., until he then changed his mind. Me being the nice brother said he could have it, but now I want a 7" tablet lol.

So, a couple of questions;

Is the Nexus 7 the only real contender here? What about the Kobo ARC? And is the Nook HD any good - especially for a 15 year old?

Thanks.

Hey i have moved this thread into the Device Comparison forums since you are looking for some 7" tablet comparisons.

Hope this helps, and the Nexus 7 is awesome. It is a great Tablet and is pretty good, i know a couple of the guides have them and only have good things to say about them.

I have both a 10" and 7" tablet. They definitely have different purposes but for me, just Web browsing, the 7" is far more comfortable to hold.
Some reports are saying there will be a cheaper Nexus 7 coming out but as it stands right now, it's still a great deal.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is a pretty good tablet also. The specs are not as good as the N7 but it does offer an ext. sd card slot.
