Doesnt seem to work, just brings me, in the US, to the main amazon.uk page. Even when I log into my account.

Just brings me to the electronics section of Amazon, nothing about a 30 dollar, or whatever the US equivalent is, package of apps, sorry. 
Yeah, it's not working for me now either.
Head to Amazon.com, in the navigation pane on the left side of the page, select Appstore for Android and it should be there.
Alternatively, download the Amazon app store app (you'll need it for the apps anyway) and the included apps are displayed on the front page.

As the 9th/10th version of the soon to be 12/13th version of a Icon from your neck of the woods used to say....FANTASTIC!
Granted, nothing to blow my hair back, but still, it is a nice thought from them. Still mulling over what games to get with my 5 bucks credit from yesterday.
Yeah, there's nothing amazingly amazing there, but free is always good.
