$9.99 data plan no longer mandatory...changing to tier pricing?

Idk, but i am glad that they are doing away with that crap. Those that don't want internet are stuck getting one of about 4 crappy phones now.

hmmm was just reading the article and it appears boygenius as well as everyone else seems to be misreading or misinterpreting....

this isnt changing anything...... it says the new feature phones will not require a data plan......... current feature phones already do not require a plan.... no change

it says their phasing out 3G multimedia phones........ but any 3G multimedia phone will still require a data plan

this is basically just an announcement that 4G is coming out in select markets... and letting employees know that the new 4G feature phones are not in the multimedia category (even though they have similar features)

I agree this puts them 1 step closer to tiered plans....... since they say theyre phasing out 3G phones.......... but youre still gonna be stuck with a data plan until you replace your device with a 4G phone...... which means even if you buy a 3G multimedia phone in March youre gonna be getting a $10 data plan

this move is initially gonna torque a lot of people off IMO........ the same way it did when they made them mandatory to begin with....... of course most people are oblivious to any of it anyhow..... so theyll never even know the difference
