Either I'm the bonehead or you're the bonehead ... (I'm guessing the former) but .....
I thought the Galaxy SIII doesn't have 4G, except in the UK where there's a hardware update ... ??

In Canada my S3 shows LTE . not truly 4G but much faster than 3G. Does your phone show 4G or LTE.

Of course none of this explains why your phone gets hot. Does your battery drain faster when it gets hot?

I'd 1st save n backup all my info (contacts, texts, all the main stuff) And then go delete the entire Internal SD followed with a full wipe including the battery stats and hard reset of my S3. Turn it on, set my info, restore my stuff and add my new L.A location settings. Anything old inside, whatever it is could really screw with someones phone. Starting from scratch is always good w electronics, my opinion. Good Luck!
