A couple questions about upgrading a phone with Verizon

Okay, first... my situation: I added a new line of service last month to my account, so I now have two lines on a family account. I paid about $200 for a Galaxy Note 2, and got a new number with the phone. When the phone arrived, I called Verizon and got my old number put onto the Galaxy Note 2, and the new number on my old iPhone 4.

Now, I'm due for an upgrade on my old line. However, the old line has my new Galaxy Note 2 on it. I want to get the upgrade, but I want to keep the Galaxy Note 2 on my current line. I want to get rid of the iPhone 4 on the new number completely. So, my questions:

1. Am I able to upgrade on my eligible line, but keep the Galaxy Note 2?

2. Will upgrading my old line mess up my service on the Galaxy Note 2 at all? Just curious, as the iPhone 4 doesn't have a SIM card like the Note 2 does, so not sure how that would work out.

There should be no issues with using the upgrade on the note 2 line and transferring the new phone to the second line. This is a common practice that many people use to get extra upgrades. The only thing that could be a problem is that if the note 2 line has unlimited data, and you use the upgrade, you will be forced to give up the unlimited data plan and be forced into a tiered data plan.
