a few questions about the samsung intercept

Hey guys I'm posting from my brand new samsung intercept, the onr I have been asking so manny questions about. It is great. However, a few questions remain. I downloaded the handcent sms app from the market, and I want to know how to delete the stock messaging app from the phone, because every time I get a new message, I get a notification for each messenger app. Also, I quickly realized how fast the memory fills up, so I also wanted to deleter thinkfree office, but there is no way to. Is it possible to do either of these things without rooting my phone?

another question: do I need an app to get animated backgrounds?

Another question (again): sometimes my homescreens will delete the application shortcuts, not the apps themselves. After I go through the troubleof replacing the shortcuts, the old shortcuts will reappear on top of the new ones. Any ways around this?

Thanks guys. You are my go to source for anything android!

Have you tried disabling the notifications for the builtin one? Like load it up press the menu button then look for the settings. I know on my rooted vibrant the option is there. I forget if there was for when it was stock though.

I only had an "after market" messaging app for about 3 minutes because the adds really annoyed me, but in the FAQ while setting it up I remember it told me how to turn off my notification of texts in the stock app. I don't remember what it said because I didn't do it 'cause I didn't keep the app. :P So maybe check the FAQ or help section on the app!

I believe you can not delete stock apps unless your phone is rooted. I could be wrong because I really don't know anything about rooting or "flashing roms" or what not haha. I'm pretty sure that on your phone just outta the box that you can't delete stock stuff. If your phone is brand new and from sprint, do you have 2.2? If you do, you should be able to move apps to your SD card which will obviously free up tons of memory. If you don't have 2.2 I'm sure you could go to the sprint store and they would update you :)

I know on my phone (I still have 2.1) there is no way to get live wallpapers I don't think. Maybe someone with 2.2 could let you know if they have this feature now or if it's still something the phone just can't do.

And that last thing...freakin' weird! I've never had that happen before but it sounds really annoying!

Harvickchick, I am stuck on 2.1 because I am on virgin mobile. I wish they would just update the dang phones already :P I REALLY need the space. But I appreciate the help :D
