A few quick questions on activating a droid

So basically I dropped my motorola droid yesterday & now it won't turn on. There's no insurance on it & it's rooted. I have three questions:
If I purchase a clean ESN phone off ebay, and I use the verizon activation online or by calling them
1. Can they tell my original phone was rooted?
2. If the phone I purchase is already rooted, can it be activated?
3. Can I activate a newer phone (droid2, droid x), or would this be considered an "upgrade"?

1) No. Not if its broken. They can't tell by simply looking at the phone over the network anyway. Not that it matters, your warranty was voided because you broke the phone. They only care about it being rooted when it comes to warranty matters.

2) Yes.

3) Yes. You'll just need to transfer the ESN of the new phone to your account. Its not considered upgrade unless you buy it directly from Verizon at a New Every 2 price.
