Root A few quick questions (?'s)

I have a few, simple questions that need answering before I start (thanks in advance, and expect to receive it). Obviously, I'm not from around here (I own a different phone).

When, if ever, will there be a kernel for this cone? And, also, is this rooting-style especially dangerous? It looks like a lot of user are havin' some trouble. I don't want to be one of them.

there are several Kernels available for this phone, 2-3 each for FroYo Sense and AOSP, Gingerbread Sense and AOSP and even 1 for Icecream Sandwich, see HERE for kernels and more. I have rooted several MT4Gs using different methods and none of them have had any problems (mine has been rooted for over a year and has the "bad" eMMC and I flash it quite a bit). my preferred method is laid out HERE
