A little disappointed in the screen quality

I came from the Samsung Charge. The Charge phone was more bright, more clear, and better colors.

I notice particularly in the Whites. The white is an off white, and does not pop like on the Samsungs.

The screen door effect/pin dot like effect is very noticeable compared to the Samsung.

Otherwise, its a far superior phone, but I really miss that Samsung screen.

I owned the Charge and now the Razr.

I had my Razr next to my Father's Charge last night.

My friend you speak the truth!
Charge does look better on Pretty much all accounts.

The Charge is also a Super Amoled Plus vs the Razr's plain Super Amoled! So you have to take that into consideration.
However....

Whites are way brighter and crisper on the Charge...Compared to the Razr's pale Grey off white color.

Is what it is man! Can't do nothing about it! If it bothers you alot go check out the Rezound....Jeez that screen is gonna be sick with 720p resolution! Or even the Galaxy Nexus...but keep in mind Nexus will also be Super Amoled, with the exception of also having 720p resolution.

Lots of choices...good luck.

No worries... As fast as phones are being made nowadays, you won't even remember about this screen resolution in two to three months. A friend of mine has one, and I tell you this much - the screen resolution is totally AWESOME!!!

This right here is the problem: Comparing two different phone screens. Obviously, they're going to look different. It's like comparing apple & android.

I have the brightness all the way up.

Like Sean76 says, the Charge whites are much more crisp and white. The Razr has a dull white.

Lol... My friend, Your off base!

How is that like comparing Android to Apple? The gentleman had concerns about the screen on a phone he owned (Charge) and now the Razr.

So wait....your telling me every single phone reviewer out there is wrong by comparing different types of screens?

This is the name of the game my friend, and it comes down to preference on what the person likes! If you own either of the two and have a constructive comment, awesome! If you don't and just like to come off as what people do is wrong in comparing things...well then friend I'd take the back seat because unless you've really used or owned either (or both) your comments can't really be taken into account.

Yes the colors are really vivid on the Razr, as they are on the Charge as well! But yes the whites are off!

Its a trade off!

When comparing both...you are getting a better phone with the Razr, of course for the exception of your screen concerns. The software, the UI, Build Quality, and even call quality is better on the Razr IMO.

The pros and Cons are endless with all these phones.

Good luck, and feel free to ask questions and voice your concerns...Most of us on here are really cool when it comes to tossing around questions and comparing differences in phones.

Reading these types of posts is hilarious coming from an iPhone 4. We iPhone users have the best screen quality and I still use mine on 1/2 brightness which means "whites" don't exist (just a dim grey).

Maybe you should consider an iPhone 4s

Lol...you do realize your in an Android Forum, don't you?

Nahhh, to me the 4S is a so so smart phone! IOS is boring to me, I've owned plenty of iphones...even picked up the 4S when it came out! While having a really good screen, and great camera IMO....
Its just wayyyy to small, data is severely under powered on today's 3G, and the lack of customization is boring IMO.

Maybe they change the playing field with the 5! However with out the great mind of Steve Jobs...that may be a pipe dream.

I agree that the droid razr has more to offer which is why mine is Ina FedEx truck. But all phones are going to have trade offs, screens are nice but these are the same people complaining about battery life with their screens on 100% and then complaining whites are not as good... It's a smartphone, not a laptop...

Your comment did tickle my face...Haha... I'm not telling you anything. And as I said before, It's like comparing Apple to Android. Don't assume anything - you know what they say about assumptions - right!

I don't see any issues with the screen at all very bright and colorful IMO. Its only a phone not a movie theater! How much better can it get?

Honestly, unless you've seen both phones side by side, or like I said own them...How on earth would you be able to comment! Because your friend owns one? Jeez ...Seriously now....

Owning an EVO 3D doesn't qualify you as a screen expert when comparing a Super Amoled plus or Super Amoled screen.

Again...there you go assuming. I can put anything I want in my profile regarding the phone I have or used. The EVO 3D phone screen looks awesome to me, but if I should compare it to another phone...well, lets say...hmm! It might not look so awesome. And for your information, I have almost every new device on the market. Now, noticed I said _ Almost. Now, lets get back on topic...I think we've derailed this thread enough.

Great....So you have all the Answers and you like to put phones that you may, or may not have in your profile?

You derailed on the fact that the OP had concerns about his new phones screen against his old one! I chimed in with my feelings on both because I've owned both, and Whites are in fact light years better on the older regular LCD screen that the Bionic houses vs the newer Super Amoled screen that the Razr houses.

The simple fact is that Whites are in fact brighter and Whiter on the Bionic!

No Derailments....it is what it is!

Case Closed good buddy!

Cheers! You the man Hahaha. Loving my EVO 3D and the other countless devices I owned...oops! Or as you say -- maybe don't owned. Lmfao.

Comparing Apples to Oranges. They are NOT the same display. They are not even the same TYPE of display.

Super AMOLED is the original display which added an integrated touch-layer to the classic AMOLED display. This results in a thinner display that behaves much better under sunlight. Super AMOLED uses PenTile technology.

Super AMOLED Plus is Samsung's more advanced technology - which ditches the PenTile in favor of the classic RGB Stripe matrix. So while the displays look better, they provide less pixel density compared to Super AMOLED displays.

The Charge uses a more advanced screen. It's going to look better than the RAZR's.

Comparing the two is like comparing a 1080p LCD to a 1080p Plasma and complaining because the 1080p LCD doesn't look as good as the 1080p plasma because the plasma has whiter whites and blacker blacks.

Go look at the newest Samsung's out there. Its seems like little difference until you've owned the phones and gotten used to them. Like the original poster was saying, the Droid Charge simply had a better screen than the Razr does, and I believe him.

I have to agree to some degree!

Samsung makes a really nice screen ...
