A new RTS game has been launched on the market. Thought some people hungry for a Android RTS game would like to know!

Crusaders

Join the Crusades and travel to the Holy Land and restore religious control! Every game you play will be different as these foreign lands are vast and full of wonders!

Crusaders is a full RTS game (a "proper" rts) where you control soldiers, clerics and heroes to defeat the opposing army. Crusaders features a game interface which blends RTS and touch screen seamlessly for a great gaming experience.

Game features -
* Large randomly generated maps
* Randomly generated content
* Four map landscapes (from forest through to jungle)
* Soldier, cleric, hero and monster units (each with different attributes)
* Four enemy units with different attributes
* Various upgrade buildings to help your conquest
* Buildings can be upgraded with gold
* Archer towers can be built and upgraded
* Discover unique magical structures to help your conquest
* Soldiers gain experience points for improved attributes
* Gold can be collected from the land or defeated enemies
* Powerful heroes can be recruited to help defeat the enemy
* Use gold to recruit new soldiers and clerics
* Different fierce monsters to battle
* Castles and archer towers can be destroyed
* Global online leaderboards (score, game time and elite units) and achievements through OpenFeint
* Three difficulty levels
* Varied and high quality SFX
* Save game ability
* Tutorial included
* Full SD support

Version 1.38 for Android versions 2.1 and above.
Regularly updated (see version updates below).
Reading tutorial recommended.

No Trial/Lite Version?
15min refund period?

Looks good, but not worth the risk based on some iffy reviews in the market.

Will wait for a Lite version.

I only pay attention to comments when there is no lite version, now that there is no real refund period.

But just to be clear you should actually look at the comment section of the App. The app is currently rated 3 out of 5 stars. There are 5 comments, 1 with no words but 1 star (take that as a negative) and 1 that says they refunded because it was blurring and freezing on their phone (that is what most people would call negative).

Not trying to slam you, but fair is fair.

Good luck with your sales though.

The 1 star with no comment was a user with a Galaxy S device who had the same issue as the user who commented about the Galaxy Tab device. Both of these purchases where made on the first day of release.

The issues with the Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab devices was fixed on the second day so the one star user removed his comment.

When I say negative I mean people making comments about the actual game being bad. That would be negative (if the comments were not constructive criticism). Commenting about how the game is not working on a certain device is fine as it gives me useful feedback.

Just being fair and letting you know the facts.

Hint: Instead of spending your time responding to random people on an internet message board without actually listening to their suggestion, and spend it making a trial version so you wont look like you are hiding something. :)

I will release a game video soon on youtube so at least people will be able to see the game running :)

I don't want this to sound harsh in anyway, but I agree Loch and dguy that it needs a trial version, and releasing a video is far from doing so. The way I see it, if there is not a trial version then the developer has something to hide, affraid things will pop up they missed, or they are just lazy and don't want to release one, which kind of reflects one of the first two reasons anyway.

That is a good start!

The reason I mention a trial is because

1. It is seemingly your first game on the market, so people can not depend on your track record so they dont know if they can trust the game.

2. With Google's new 15min refund policy, there is a good chance a buyer will not be able to refund the purchase if something goes wrong.

I dont mean too sound harsh, I am sure the game is cool.

I do see your point about developers wanting to hide issues but of course those issues will also be mentioned for a paid app. In fact, as the app has to be bought, people will be a lot more harsh in terms of what they do not like about the app.

I think one of the big problems on the android market is that as anyone can upload anything the quality level for games is not very good and this does a lot harm to consumer confidence.

You only have to look at the iphone app market to see how well sales do when games have to be approved before being released on the market.

I am not saying I will never release a lite-version but at the moment I am very busy adding more content. A good thing about RTS games is that there is so much potential for adding new stuff.

That being said, I think a good youtube video makes a massive difference. I know I always check youtube for a new Android game that I find interesting :D
 
That's fine, I understand that as well. Developers and consumers alike do not like the Android Market. I know alot of people who like Android phones more than their iPhones, but refuse to get one because of the Market App...You'd think with the constant complaints Google would have done something by now...
 
Well it looks like the power of the forum has won and the developer have released a lite version of game!

Good work guys i have downloaded and tried the lite version and have really enjoyed it and may consider purchasing the full version as it appears the developer is very active with updates :)

This is only the start. I really want people to contact me and tell me what they did or did not like and what they would like to see added or changed. I am open to all ideas and suggestions!

I looked around and could not see a demo version anywhere, when and where did you see it? Yossarian4 said they'd be releasing a video, but not a demo (for the time being). How is that video coming along anyway?
 
Yossarian, good luck on your game! Ill check out your lite (version when its found?)

The Crusades are merely a convenient setting for games because it was responsible for so many medieval era battles, and that makes sense. I mean when Red Dead Revolver came out, no one cried about Manifest Destiny.We all play lots of games with all sorts of Gods and Deities involved, but that doesnt make them any less fun. And you cant ignore that the Crusades happened, a long time ago ( more like half a millennium not half a century) so i dont think its too soon to be making games about it

* Added a new magic structure - Hand of God (allows player to use a shockwave spell on enemy soldiers).
* Game balance tweaks.

* Added a effect for soldiers being healed next to the Fountain Of Youth.

Version 1.24
* Updated the selected soldiers to display a selection image.
* Added a new front-end background image.

Version 1.25
* Improved the AI strategy for upgrade building defence.
* Brightened up the soldier selection image.
* Game balance tweaks.

Version 1.26
* Buildings can now be upgraded (for improved soldier attributes) with gold.
* Updated the soldier AI behaviour in battle to be more dynamic.

Plenty of updates and more to come ;)

A lite version will be coming soon. I first have a important content update to make to the full version.

Which is a new unit type - Clerics. These little holy men will be healing the soldiers during battle and also throwing the odd earth spike spell against enemy soldiers! :)

hey thats cool...I mean yea keep the updates going for the full version its a problem where other 'major' devs fall down.....hell....fruit ninja for example anyone? been waiting months for the arcade mode to appear.....same with some other games that have been waiting for arcade modes or ANYTHING to happen :rolleyes:

but yea cant wait for lite version man...I always love my lil RTS games...though currently im stuck playing bubble buster most of the time...stuck on one god damn level for the last 2 weeks almost...annoys the hell out of me....plus just got into Zenonia 2 which is pretty good and also mini squadron which is just so addictive lol..

so if your lite version is good...I'll add the full version to the list of current played lol :D;)

I like the animations of the soldiers. The other details such as the amount of soldiers you have selected is a nice feature. I'll definately give this a go.
