A question about deleting emails on server and device

I would like to set up my email account that uses a POP server to delete emails from the server if I delete them on the device. Is that possible?

Also, if I delete an item on the server, I'd like that to delete it from the device. Is that possible?

What does the "delete mail on server" option mean in the settings? I have it selected, but it doesn't delete mail on the server.

I know hotmail recently changed their server to not allow "delete mail on server" unless you login to your hotmail account (from you computer) and specifically allow it in the settings. It's possible your email provider has the same thing.

Does your provider allow IMAP as well? Many people find that IMAP works better.
