A question of etiquette regarding book promotion

Dear sirs and madams -

Having spent some time on the forum, reading posts and attempting to become familiar with the rules of conduct and etiquette, I find I still have questions as to the propriety of promoting the book my colleagues and I have created. The rules seem clear as far as apps go - post in the appropriate subforum and don't spam (common-sense rules indeed!) - but I can't seem to find anything about other Android-related material.

Yours very truly,

Harold N. Malt

General rule of thumb is not to use the forum to pimp your wares (we aren't here for free advertising). That is, we're an android community first and that's how we want to stay. That being said, once you have found your footing and have shown you are here for the community, we don't mind an OCCASIONAL drop of a "hey, I wrote a book, you should check it out."

It needs to be back burner though regardless (or in your signature once you are able to have one).

Might we ask what the subject of the book is? It might help us point you to the right place where you should be able to place one announcement. Beyond that it would be considered spamming to continue to make posts about your book and we would have to take action at that point. After you have made 25 posts you are permitted to add a signature to you profile which will appear on the first post in each thread (or last, depending on which way you have your threads sorted.) You may include a link to your book there.

Please remember that Android Forums is a user support site, not a promotional platform. If your book is a viable commercial product you might want to consider contacting the site owner and arrange for paid advertisement.
