a twist on Shake 'n Bake

in this particular instance, what I needed was a way to force lock the screen on my phone.

I have a folding leatherette case for it, and the part of it that holds the phone, is loosey goosey and the Power Button is not lined up right.... Press on that button, and the phone just slides sideways....

so, how to make it blank and lock the screen?

MacroDroid to my Rescue.....

Trigger: Shake the device
Action: Screen Off

and Job 1 done....

easy as pie, and I'm a happy camper again.

so why did I need this? Because I do a LOT of just general news reading, forums, etc.... and I have the Screen Off time set to 10 minutes.... I had thought about making it "NONE", but that is not a good idea as I have a habit of falling asleep in my recliner while reading the news about POTUS :(

anyway, if I just need to quickly look for something, and lock it up again, I would like to "lock it now".
so, Shake 'n Bake to the rescue :D

You could monitor the proximity sensor and when it is covered (case us closed) the screen turns off.

I do this with Tasker to automatically turn the screen off when I put the phone in my pocket.

Hmmm, had not thought of that idea Thom....

wunder ifen it would sense the case cover???

Will try that and see how it works, I like that as a bit better than what I came up with.
Sometimes, we bump these things and don't intend to.... and oops! locked screen :D

I added one more Action: line

Turn Off Flashlight..... :)

I am forever, turning on the Flashlight to take a picture... gives it more Fill for daylight shots in shadow.....
then I close the screen and oops! dern it, have to unlock, turn off light, lock it again.

Experimentation needed.

I use Camera JB+ and have to disable the proximity sensor because it gets in the way of screen manipulations to setup a picture.

I never use a case. I have not used a stick on screen protector since the Droid X (not the Moto X). I carry my Droid Turbo 2 in my right front pants pocket an d I never put anything in that pocket except the phone. It is either empty or it has the phone.

My wallet claims the right front pocket, a Security Trick taught to me by a Driving Instructor.
You take big #60 Rubber Bands and you wrap them all around the wallet, then put it in your front pocket.
Train yourself everyday: if I feel that pocket being hassled, swing my Elbow backwards as hard as I can.

SPLAT! broken nose of offender... he should not be that close and messing with your pockets.

Since I added that case, it goes in the left front pocket... used to keep it in my shirt pocket... but don't fit now.
