Help ? about image file management on N7

Newbie
I just got my N7, delving into the world of tablets and Android for the first time, and I'm very confused.

I mainly want to use the tablet to look at and edit images from my camera. To do this, I've bought a OTG dongle, downloaded some image editing apps (PS Touch, Snapseed, Photo Editor), X-plore file management app, and Nexus Media Importer so I can bring images over from my SD card.

So far I've been able to copy images from my card to the tablet, putting in them in sub-folders in the Pictures folder. I can open them from X-plore and do editing, but here's where I'm confused:

When I do a save or save as in the different programs, it's not clear to me where the files are being saved to--does anyone know?

And it seems that the edited image files are saved in a bunch of different locations -- is there a way I can designate just one folder (with sub-folders for managing the images) to put all the images in regardless of which program I use to create them?

Best, David

Generally, each app will have its own default save location, you might be able to specify where that is via the app settings. I use an app called AfterFocus sometimes, the default save location for that is /sdcard/afterfocus.

Download a File Manager app (ES File Explorer & Astro are 2 of the more popular) and use that to browse the directory structure of the virtual SD Card to see where the apps you've mentioned are saving the pics.

Does that help?

You have my vote! Thanks for the tip. After digging around a bit using X-plore, the file management app I installed, I came to the same conclusion. I also see that I can view all of these images in Gallery, so it may not matter as much where they are 'actually' stored on my tablet, so long as I can get to them, edit, save and view them, I'm good.

thanks, d
