About to get a droid, have a update question.

Hi, Im coming from a Iphone and was wondering how I will know when there is a OS update available? When I had my iphone when you plugged it into Itunes it would let you know that there was a update available. How is this done with Android OS? Thanks guy!

From what I understand the nice thing about the Android phones is you don't have to do a search everyday to see if there is any updates, you will get a notification on your phone. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.
