Hey there, I've scoured the internet and forums for hours and hours (including this forum) and have found absolutely nothing like this, so I was wondering if anybody can help me.
I broke my Infuse 4G the other day and my dad gave me his old Captivate.
I am in Canada and wanted to unlock it, so I tried to root it. I downloaded a bad ROM and it made the screen get all weird and glitchy, so I put it into download mode, went into Odin and installed what I thought was a rom for my phone. Instead, I accidentally downloaded one for the i9000 which is the European model.
It's now updated to 2.3.6 for the i9000 but the home button functions as the back button, and the back and find buttons seems to select icons and function as left and right. There is no actual home button on my phone, so I can't put it back into download mode as holding the bottom and lower volume buttons and inserting a USB cable no longer does it.
I want to:
- Figure out a way to download the correct official operating system for my phone, and not for the i9000.
- Root it properly instead of bricking it, so that I can unlock it. All I want to do is unlock it after I have the right firmware on there... Thank you so much in advance!
