Account Question

Lurker
I apologize if this has been answered already...

I got my first android phone about 4 1/2 years ago and I registered my account to a gmail account that I haven't used for over 4 years now.

I have been using a different account for the past 4 years and would like to use that account as my primary on all future devices, phones and tablets.

4 1/2 years ago I originally registered as "doe.john@gmail.com" , but have since been using "john.doe@gmail.com" for the past 4 years. If I switch the primary account on my phone, will I lose everything such as purchased apps, etc...?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi there, kimble, and welcome to Android Forums. We're glad you're here. :)

I see you've already gotten some good advice.

I've moved this to the Google board.

Id like to further this question. Let's say he gets a new device. And uses a different account from which he bought the app from. Will he still be able to get the app?

He'll have to pay for it again if the old account is not on the phone. Although you can have multiple accounts on the phone anyway, so just put both the old and new.
