So of all the people having the problem, are their any solutions out there?

Try uninstalling the driver for it, reboot and let Windows re-detect the slot and then reinstall the drivers (make sure you have the latest drivers from Acer). If that's a no go, try booting to a Linux live CD such as Knoppix and see if that will detect the slot and read cards inserted into it. If linux will read cards in the slot, then the problem is isolated to Windows.

Yes its probably lack of a working driver or cheap hardware gone wrong. What's posted above is a good starting point.

Sorry for being pedantic or anal but the only place I expect to see a demand of "Help" is as I'm circling above a zombie-infested land and the letters are etched on the landscape using sheets, rocks, sticks etc. In forums, a request of "please help" is usually better received. Please don't take it for granted that people don't care about manners.

Which model of Acer? Acer's site is very easy for looking up drivers. Just download the official or latest ones and install.

Thanks everyone, I will check into the new acer site. I was able to upload the pics, but I don't think windows media wants to play mp3 format music.

^out the box with the linux disc it will recognize and install multi sd car readers?

Most full distros will, yes. The OpenSUSE 12.1 live CD that I ended up installing onto my Dell laptop saw and configured every piece of hardware on this laptop (except the wireless) automagically. That includes the SD slot. Unless the SD slot on that Acer is some obscure piece of hardware (which I doubt), then a Linux live CD from any of the major distros (Ubuntu, Mandriva, Fedora, OpenSUSE, etc, etc) should detect it and be able to read from it fine while being just booted to the CD.

A Linux live CD from one of the major distros is a fantastic PC troubleshooting tool as most come with full HW support and loads of great tools to find and fix PC problems.

Thanks for all the great info, I'm new at this so I will check up on this info. I have a way of making simple things hard, lol.
