Help Acess to SD card

I have a Sansung tab E (SM T560) and I have installed an SDcard. I have copied document and music file from my PC to the SD card. However all the applications I have tried to view this data fails because the Apps are unable to see the SDcard The Apps will not let me change the root directory. The Op system is Android 4.4.4.

If I use the file system to access the docs it states "no device to access this file"

Any ideas what the problem is would be helpful

Apps with 4.4 commonly have trouble writing to folders on SD created by other apps, but reading shouldn't be a problem (based on my experience of a Galaxy Note 10.1 when it ran 4.4).

What apps have you used (I assume by "use the file system" you mean use Samsung's file manager, which is called My Files, but what other ones?) and what file types are we talking about here?
