Trying to do this part "Reboot into recovery mode. In recovery, flash the SU file you've downloaded earlier.
To do this, select install, then navigate to where you placed the file. Select the first file, then swipe to flash. "

There wasn't an install to select so I chose ADB update.. ummm NOw i'm stuck on the screen "Now send the package you wan to apply to the deivce with "adb sideload <filename>"

What do i do??!!

UPDATE: I tried typing in the command prompt to install the SU file. It said Daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037. Daemon stated successfully. error: device not found

I did get the phone to reboot normally. Still confused as to how to load SU.
I have no "install" selection. Only Reboot system now, apply update from ADB, wipe data/factory reset, and wipe cache partition are available selections.

Assuming you are using TWRP 7.x, sounds like you ended up in the Advanced sub-menu. When you first boy into the recovery without touching anything, Install should be the button in the upper left of the screen.

When I first boot to recovery it just has the android guy and no menu. I have to hit volume up + power to get to the menu I was at.

I think I got it!! The recovery SEEMED to work the first time, but I flashed it again and now I see the TWRP menu!! Thanks!!

Yup, the android guy is the stock recovery.

Based on your PM to me it seems like your having trouble flashing superuser though right?

When you try to reboot from the menu TWRP will actually detect your ROM isnt rooted and ask if you'd like to install root. Then boot up and follow the instructions provided by the superuser app.
