Act on SMS content

I've created a profile in Tasker that kicks off a task whenever a text message is received containing a special word. I have the following settings in this new "Received Text" profile:

Type=SMS
Sender=C:ANY
Content=*SpecialWord*

The profile kicks off the task just fine when I text myself but all this needs to be triggered from my pc.

So, on my pc, I am emailing my phone number (xxx@vtext.com) with the special word both in the subject and in the body but the profile is not triggering the task.

This is my first ever use of Tasker, so I don't know how to debug these things. I'm gonna do more research on this forum but, in the meantime, if anyone has any tips, I'd appreciate it.

I do something similar with
Type of ...
Any
Sender of ...
CG:Family
Content of ...
help*/sos*
... and it works fine for any message from a member of the family group beginning with help or sos.

That is exactly what I've been doing all along. I've been emailing to xxxyyyzzzz@vtext.com to receive SMS on my phone for over 10 years.

My question is how do I troubleshoot/debug profiles and why they are or aren't triggered within Tasker? Why are certain SMS messages ignore while others are not?

I don't know what the contact needs to be to have it work from vtext.com.

My guess for what you are attempting is to not specify anything for SENDER. You are currently telling it to select a message from anyone listed in your contact list.

I use this technique in another Profile that reads all incoming SMS messages to me.
