Active Apps

I have an App called active Apps. There are usually 4 or 5 running. It has an option to stop all active apps, when I toggle on this it tells me that if I force stop an app it may cause errors. Can anyone tell me the purpose of the active app?? I'm beginning to believe I'm better off leaving them alone!!!

nothing to worry. they are just cached in your system for easy loading.. clearing/closing them does not harm
