I use adguard to block all ads.
Download from their website.
Will create a VPN to run in the background.
Stops ads in apps.

For YouTube just use Newpipe
It will not block ads in some android games

+1 for Blokada. I've been using it for a long time and it's quite effective, easy to set up and use and doesn't kill the battery.
In the past I did get it from F-Droid but there have been some issues with the versions available there, it's best to get it directly from their site at https://blokada.org/
I would recommend using Blokada 5, which is free and works using lists downloaded to your phone. Blokada 6 is cloud-based and requires a subscription.
