Ad blocker for YouTube

Newbie
Samsung Galaxy A53 5G.... I'm looking for a reasonably good ad blocker for YouTube. I've tried a couple of free ones from the Google 'Play Store', but they don't do anything to curtail the blizzard of ads while trying to watch YouTube. Of course, this makes perfect sense, as Google owns YouTube.....

I have no problem paying a one-time fee for the ad blocker, but I don't want to get sucked into paying an ongoing monthly fee.

Can someone kindly recommend an ad blocker, or a strategy, to block most (or all) ads from YouTube?

Many thanks, Dave F.

Yeah, opting for Youtube Premium is a $12 per month ($140 each year) commitment. Money to pay to Google on top of the profit it makes by data mining us relentlessly.

Also suggest you look into the NewPipe app, it's a very good equivalent to the Youtube app without all that Google oversight.

It's not available in Google's Play Store so you'll need to install if from F-Droid:

Installing apps from non-Play Store sites is generally discouraged, but there are a few sites like APKmirror and F-Droid that have well established reputations as being reliable and dependable.

Does that work for youtube music as well?

I don't use YouTube that much, so I suffer through all the ads. I'm glad that I do because, "Youtube Premium is a $12 per month ($140 each year)" is outrageous. I had no idea it was that expensive.

Youtube is a video service (content with video and audio). Youtube Music is an audio only service. There's an app for one and an app for the other.
If you pay for Youtube Premium that covers both Youtube and Youtube Music, a (cough, cough, hack, hack.....) bargain if you opt to just pay for a Youtube Music subscription, $10.00 per month.

(five years of paying it, but I have mostly on it on my card...)
