I have always used a particular file "ir_inter.wav" for new mail notifications. It is one of the standard files available as part of Windows XP, and is locates in the folder C:\Windows\media. I want to make my phone play this sound, when I get a new gmail.

When I search, I can find instructions for how to change the default sound, to a different sound that is already in the phone. That is not what I am looking for. I want to take the file "ir_inter.wav" (or "ir_inter.mp3") and make this the sound that plays. I know how to transfer the file from my PC to my phone, but it does not show up as one of the choices for "new mail notification" sounds in the gmail settings menu.

HOW DO I DO THIS?

I just became a member, so I can get email updates.

Hi, and welcome.

You would need to have that file in your phone's sound folder.

The best way I can tell you would be to find your phone's folder in forums and ask other users of your device how to add a sound file to to correct folder, then it is just a matter of choosing it.

Hope this helps.
