Can someone please exsplain Adobe AIR and how it affects android.. All i see is that it is like a flash or something, but not popular.

All I know is that it stands for Adobe Integrated Runtime, in other words Adobe Adobe Integrated Runtime. It is integrated with flash, html, and/or java. How it works is beyond me, tho I would like to know as well.

AIR allows you to develop stand-alone Flash apps that do not need a browser to operate.

The pretty much allow you to make "desktop" run-time apps. Or in this case, mobile apps that are stand-alone. E.G. Tweet-deck is an AIR app. It downloads and runs like any other desktop app. No need for a browser. it has its own launcher and desktop icon.

So what separates this from a normal app that you would download off the market?

It is for the developers. It is easier to develop an AIR app vs a Java app. I know AIR developers who don't know any real OO programming languages.

You can pretty much point-n-click in Flash and embed some movies and have an interactive app done very quick.

The reason why Apple doesn't want this is because some of these apps are buggy, slow, and are not optimized for experience. I've only see 2 good AIR apps - Pandora and Tweetdeck. The rest is kinda garbage like the the Ebay and Facebook app.

i dl'ed a pre-release AIR app with some sample apps from somewhere. you can find it if you look around the internets. only other way to get it is signing up for the dev program at Adobe
