Ads on App

This is my first post on this forum.

I have several apps on android, and couple of them are doing really good. They are free, and I was hoping that I could generate enough money thru ads, since the usage is huge anyway. But eCPM is rediculously low. About 10 cents.

Am I missing something or this normal? What can I do to increase it? If it is that low then there is no point in using admob or such, I can just put my own ads there and probably do better.

What is the industry average?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

FYI I have several supposedly ad-supported free apps and games from the Market on my UK purchased Galaxy S, however I never see ads at all in them. Probably because AdMob(Google) or whatever doesn't have much of a presence here, if any. Might be the same for some other countries.

You could put your own ads into your apps, don't know how you'd keep them relevant to where your apps are been downloaded though. I mean an ad for let's say Kwik-Fit tyres, is hardly going to be effective in Inner Mongolia.
