Help ads when phone not being used

Hello,

I recently bought a Moto G (4th generation). All of a sudden, I'm getting a video ad for app's (video games) completely out of the blue when I'm not even on my phone. It's loud, and very annoying.. especially in the middle of the night when I'm trying to sleep. Not to mention it's probably using my data to play these videos, of which I am limited.
How do I get these ad's to stop?

Hello and Merry Xmas. I have looked at a couple of phones lately with the same ploblem and the first thing i did was run malwarebites on them and sure enough they had Spyware installed to the system partion, one of them "htmlviewer.apk" was patched and ran i script to hide itsself from the running processes as not to show up. If that is the case, rooting your phone to get access to move it or get a copy of original OS and reflash it. Hope that helps.

How do I get these ad's to stop?

IF, you don't mind doing w/o the internet at night while you are asleep, just turn off the internet.
ie, DATA and WiFi are both OFF.... that is how I do it all the time anyway.

that will stop the middle of the night crap. but, it would be better to get rid of the pesky ad app.
