Advanced text editor

When I read "advanced text editor" I think of a plain text editor with advanced editing features (complex search/replace, macro recording, etc), whereas it sounds like you are after a basic word processor/document formatting tool.

Do you need to save the documents in any particular format, i.e. will you want some other app or device to read them and understand your formatting? If so that will define your app options.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. The files don't need to be opened by any other app since it's for my personal use. I installed Word but feels kind of messy to move around in it but if all these editors will be alike I'll just stick to it.
If you know of a better one let me know, if not I'll consider the thread closed.

Thank you for your help.

I'm not a big user of such things on android (I prefer to use a computer). I currently have the MS Office apps on both phone and tablet, but rarely use them to create documents. There are various third party "office suits" available, but I've not really used any of them (some of the developers have a reputation of being a little iffy). They're all free to install, so you could test some and see if any feel better to you.

Of course you can also do this with Google Docs. If you save in Google Docs format it will be stored in Google's cloud, but it can also save as Word documents, and those can be saved to Google or just on device. On a phone it's probably a little more responsive than Word, so might be worth giving a try.
