Hi All,
I'm new one here so please bare with me while I get to grips with the site.
I have a Desire HD with Android 2.2 and need some advise in regards to video playback.
I have a TV season in AVI format that I had put on to my phone's SD card. I am using the standard Gallery for video playback. Some of the videos are unable to play, some play partly, and some play fine. The error is always "sorry, unable to play the file".
I also had another TV series which consisted of ESPN's coverage of the 2011 WRC- also in avi format. I had the same problem with these but they seemed to play If I changed the file extension from ".avi" to something like ".avi.xxx" using Astro. I would keep 1 file with the .avi extension. I could then watch this, delete it, and rename the next one to .avi and so on until I had watched them all- but not all at once as I would get the error again.
At first I thought it was the speed that my SD card could be read from. It was a Sony 8GB but was only a Class 2. I purchased a PNY 16GB Class 10 from Play.com and have the same problem.
Is this down to a limitation of my phone's hardware, or can this simply be overcome by using a different app?
