afraid of death ?

The worth of life is measured and cherished in moments by an individual .It cant be measured or valued by a third person .
You cant live to die or die to live .
It's either Live or Die .Pretty straight IMo

Also welcome back to the Forums ktw :D

great to be back :)

but back to topic...who's looking forward to death ?

life is not so great for some people anyway. perhaps we are dead already ?

Living to die, dying to live... what's the difference really. Here's the thing, it doesn't make sense to fear dying because it's something that every living thing before you has done.... or something like that.

I heard that in a movie (or something to that effect...)

I liked it. I'm very curious about what death will be like. But not that curious.

It's a very nice thought. I believe we just go back to the earth, although some people that have studied death say that there is an energy field that is emitted upon one's death.

Wasn't it John the Baptist who told Herod, "Kill me so I may live"? I believe that is somewhere in the bible.

I just hope I can live as long as possible and not be suffering health wise in the process.

Just a thought.

@Txgoat - I think it actually was from Midnight in Paris. I watched that the other day, and I'm thinking there was a dialogue about fearing death.

Well, my wife and I both work hospice, she full time and I part time.

We've both come to the conclusion that most people do not fear death so much as becoming enveloped in the big fear of "losing themselves, losing what they are they're whole life" so to speak. They have a sense of ending as a living thing and it overwhelms some of them for a while.

My heart goes out to them, very much, even as I find it to be a bit of a dichotomy, as all living things including each human being never existed for most of time.

Some are fine with that. Some are not and fight to hang on. Some go out with a horrid look of fear on their faces. Some smile with their last breath, appearing remarkably peaceful as the end approaches.

No fear of death here. I surely wouldn't choose immortality  the human body isn't made to live forever...it would begin to break down and eternal youth is even more of a pipe dream. IMO death is much harder on those who are still living and left behind. They get to deal with the emotions. My idea of death is it is biological and you lose awareness. No need to fear not being aware to have regrets...just my 2

No fear of death here
I've heard so many people say this, but what do you we 'really' comes to their/our minds at that moment. A questionable answer that will never be explained. :o

I have came close to death a few times...no reason to fear it IMO it is part of life...I don't really feel like dying anytime soon but if it happens it happens...I hope my kids will be okay but I don't think I will have self awareness so that hope is rather moot...without death life would not be as fun...;)

What if we told you that once you're dead, no more posting in the Forum Games section?!?! BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID!!

Nope, again without being self aware you can't have any regrets, emotions...For those who are religious take part of the Serenity Prayer "...Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change..." Death is a fact of life you can't avoid it, it will happen be it unexpected or a welcome relief no need to fear it or worry about it since it isn't something you can change.

I don't fear my death, I fear the death of those around me and those I love, for without them, who am I?

We hear something like that from the advanced elderly who have out lived their family and friends.

Some, but not all by any means, express that they are close to being reunited with them.

Serenity Prayer "...Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change..."
Not bad, but I prefer SERENITY NOW! SERENITY NOOOOWW!! (seinfeld :D)

And I do have to agree, I fear the death of those I love more than my death. Though, the finality (I assume) of death is a little freaky. And I'm under the impression that the Western world has a vastly different view on death that the Eastern, and I think they've got us on that. Who knows....

Nobody knows which is why many people do fear it because the unknown is scary...
