Root After Franco Stuck on Boot Animation

Using TWRP I just installed the Franco Kernal on my Nexus 7 1st Gen. After clicking on reboot in TWRP my tablet has remained stuck on the boot animation screen for about 15 minutes. Probably more like 20 now.

What can I do?

By the way I did a backup via TWRP, before I installed Franco Kernal. Does that mean I'm in luck.

Dismiss the above I figured out how to get back into recover and was able to fully restore the phone via the backup.

Now I have another question in light of what happened. Why did my device get stuck in a boot loop? If I try again is it likely to have the same issue?

You may not be running Android 4.3, or your upgrade to 4.3 failed and you are simply not seeing the update prompt anymore.

Check and double check your android version when flashing kernels to make sure your device (and the kernel) meets all the required criteria.

Just in case you or anyone else get's stuck again, and there's nothing the buttons can do to re-boot, or turn off, and your hair is turning white and falling out in clump's, it's OK to pull the back off the Nexus 7, and unplug the battery.

I've done this, (several times now), after remembering I'd read a post (somewhere, sorry no link to give right now).

Just use a very thin type of flat tip micro-screwdriver, start at the place the tablet halves are "open" which is at the tablet's USB connection, and "very carefully" pry at that place till the plastic case half's pop's it will be at several place's you need to gain access in this way slowly "pop" the connection all the way around the tablet till it "pop's free. Than work free the wire harness from it's connection and it will turn off the tablet.

Of course, don't have the USB cable attached, or you will be powering the boot-loop with your PC.

Here's a screen shot and little red pointers to where you must pull apart the wire harness to undo the battery.

Good luck.

There are a few reports of Nexus devices boot looping over at the Franco project thread at XDA, common suggestion is to wipe the system and dalvik cache after flashing.

Get the latest build from the site - Index of /franciscofranco , even try the nightly build if you are so inclined.

If that does not work report the issue over at XDA so they can look into it.
