Help After ICS upgrade, WiFi won't connect w/WPA

KiltedMP

Lurker
Prior to ICS upgrade, phone connected to WiFi at home OK. Would not automatically connect, but had to enter password new each time.

Now w/ICS, it doesn't like WPA. Connects fine on open network, but when encrypted, it flashes between connecting and saved, secured with WPA and does not complete the connection.

Turned off the phone after forgetting the network and shut down the modem and router as well and restarted them all with no luck.

Have FoxFi and PDANet installed as well as WiFi Analyzer. Don't know if any of these might factor in. Played with setting the radio from Global to LTE to CDMA only with no change.

I don't understand what it is about the encryption it doesn't like.

I would change the encryption, but I have several computers online that are connected and I'm not about to bump them to check, besides the fact I really don't like WEP. Might do it after midnight to check if it connects and then back.

I live in the boonies and there aren't that many people living near me, but still...

Any thoughts?

Since no one seems interested or educated enough on this issue to reply, I will let you all know I have remedied the problem.

It seems that when ICS fixed the connection issue with G/N routers, something happened with the 802.11b code.

Hope this helps someone else out with this issue.

Upgrading from a really old 802.11b only router to a new Linksys E1200 with b/g/n, the problem has been solved. The phone connects without a problem now.

Even maintains the connection and I don't have to re-enter the passkey every time I connect like I had to do on gingerbread.

b only router??? WOW that's a dinosaur, no wonder you had connection problems I upgraded to the b/g/n cisco router years ago. Glad to hear you got it sorted.
