after market batteries?

So I just bought the S3 today and I'm looking at picking up some extra batteries. How are the hyperion batteries? I'm looking at picking up there standard batteries with the standalone charger and the extended battery, 4000mah WOW!!!

I have a 4000Mah battery; it extended my battery life around 75%

With the stock battery, I got on average 32 hours; the use is ranged from general use, to social networking and around 3 hours of music a day.

With the 4000Mah battery I got on average 56 hours. I did this test on over a week, with battery testing apps.

My verdict is not to get one: I think 80% of users don't use the battery to full capacity; I generally get around 15% of battery life left after each day, so I just stick it on charge.

To get one: These batteries however would be good for people who use them for long journeys and using gps, Long video use and camera-helices, and of people who are lazy :D

I stopped using it though because it adds around half an inch to the thickness and a weight increase of around 32%

I think it adds .25"ish, since the device is .5" with the Hyperion cover attached. I agree that the extra weight, thickness and less case options make it mainly for heavier users, or people that expect to be away from a charge source for extended periods. Nice to have the power built-in, rather than having to remember to take a spare battery.

The nice thing about it though is I can leave the GS3 at stock speed and not worry about battery. I leave set to power save cpu mode when the stock battery is in use. I get the Hyperion case in a few days and will see how big it makes it. Since the device already verges on too big, I probably already know my answer ;) If your hands are real dry, the device is slippery- especially with the extra weight. This is why I ordered the case.

Probably will use the Hyperion for specific days where charging is not a solid option, or I know will use the heck out of the device.

Added: The practical side says "better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it".

I haven't researched this but how much power savings does one really get by throttling back the CPU? My guess is the CPU is such a small power draw here vs the 4.8" display....that turning brightness down to the bottom would yield a much bigger savings. I guess if one can turn down the CPU without noticing any lagginess then why not, but is it something where you're saving only 1/2 percent per DAY or something?

Battery use is based on total weight of components and what is used (of course).

My guess based on battery life of stock is about 15% savings- at best. Yes, the clock is reduced by 33%, but the device does not run full speed all the time and other components also use the battery.

The two biggies are the display and the 3G/4G radios. For the radios, ESPECIALLY in low reception areas.

BTW, battery life is amazing on this device using wifi, so best to switch to it when you can. If battery life is a concern.

I bought the EXACT same Battery/Door...LOVE IT. Had it for a few days and the phone lasts me all day.

I've only had mine for a day so im doing the cycling of the battery right now, but so far with brightness at 100%, power mode off, bt/gps on and 6 hours of screen time im at 70%. I have also listened to 3 1/2 hours of music and 45 minutes of netflix. Worth $22 easy.
