Help After trying to import contact from empty SIM, the existing contacts does not display in contacts

OS / Browser / build number (if applicable):
OS : Android 2.2
Build Number : 2_25D_1004



After trying to import contact from empty SIM, the existing contacts does not display in contacts menu.
But
1) while composing message if i try to search contact then am able to see/search contacts.
2) Am able see contact name in call log
3) Am able to see contact names in Favorites
Update:
Question is how to retrieve the contacts to the contacts menu.

Contacts would have got moved into your google account. Try enabling all options Under Contacts --> Display Options --> Google Account.

BTW are you sure your phone runs 2.2? Is it stock rom or any mod?
